Darci + Chris | Old World Wedding Glamour: Saying ‘I Do’ at The Strand Theatre

In the heart of Rockland, Maine, amidst a winter storm, Darci and Chris’s wedding unfolded as a cinematic tale of love in a winter wonderland. As a seasoned Coastal Maine Wedding Photographer, I had the honor of documenting their intimate December wedding at The Strand Theatre! Wedding and a movie, anyone? 

Naturally, the storm seemed to join us as though it had an invitation, yet, for the couple, the only thing that truly mattered was the joy of becoming Mr. and Mrs.! I’m not crying, you’re crying… okay maybe I’m crying, but this wedding was just everything one can dream of for a Maine Christmas wedding!

The Strand Theatre

The  Strand Theatre served as a breathtaking reception venue that promised a touch of old-world charm. The original plan was to watch “It’s a Wonderful Life,” but as fate would have it, the vintage charm extended to a minor hiccup – the projector broke down… Yet, this unexpected twist only added to the adventure of their wedding day. This all unfolded like a Hallmark movie that I would absolutely binge, and to keep it real with you, I would watch this wedding like an annual Christmas movie, time and time again. 

One of the most striking elements of Darci and Chris’s wedding was Darci’s stunning- and I mean STUNNING– black wedding dress. A bold and beautiful choice, perfectly setting the tone for a winter wedding that was anything but ordinary. The attention to detail did not cease there– as a talented baker, Darci took the reins in the kitchen, crafting a feast that showcased her culinary prowess.

From the main course to the desserts, including her own jaw-dropping wedding cake featuring a knit inspired layer (yes, you read that right), every bite was a testament to her love for Chris and her dedication to making their day as special as possible. Needless to say, mission accomplished.

I cannot express the extent of my privilege to get to be a part of Coastal Maine weddings like these. This wasn’t just any winter holiday wedding, it was the wedding Darci and Chris made uniquely theirs- and my heart swells at all that went into the details of this day.
